Nexon America secured worldwide publishing and marketing rights to a new free-to-play FPS, code named BlueStreak. The shooter is being developed by Boss Key Productions, a studio founded by Cliff Bleszinski who is best known for his work on shooter franchises such as Unreal Tournament and Gears of War.
Bleszinski had worked in Epic for 20 years as lead designer and retired in 2012. He decided to return to "his roots and create a 'proper' First Person Shooter. Founding Boss Key and assembling a world-class team are the first steps towards realizing that goal". He has probably got the money to finance this, as Nexon America has entered into a strategic partnership with Bleszinski and also acquired a minority stake in Boss Key.
For the moment there are no further details given about the project, it is being categorized as free2play sci-fi PC arena shooter.
With this latest acquisition, Nexon America bolsters its future free-to-play, AAA games portfolio, mainly projects of Western studios. Nexon focusses on FPS projects, upcoming releases in the near future include Dirty Bomb from Splash Damage, Ballistic from Rumble Studios and the survival MMO Human Element from Robotoki. They also work with the studios SecretNewCo and United Front Games for their unannounced f2p titles which are in the pipeline.
Boss Key is hiring and accepting resumes for BlueStreak. Head over to their site, if you want to apply.
