G-Star, Korea's biggest game show has opened its gates today and Nexon presents a highlight for shooter fans, both on its booth and with gameplay tidbits in a first public trailer: Ghost in the Shell Online looks like great fun, can we call it a "next-gen" FPS?
Nexon's forthcoming First Person Shooter is being developed by its fully owned studio Neople and set in the universe of the Japanese anime Ghost in the Shell, produced by Kodansha. We are dealing with Cyborgs, who have been designed to be super-efficient in combat with extra powers and mechatronics body parts.
It is not only about sprinting, headshots, killstreaks, campers and all that stuff that gamers have to deal with in common f2p FPS, Ghost in the Shell Online: STAND ALONE COMPLEX packs a lot of futuristic features together, which might extend the variety and complexity of gameplay, in contrary to the linear course of a 16vs16 multiplayer match in many of the existing shooters.
The trailer reveals that Cyborgs can boost sprint, use special powers, activate stealth, set up drones and portable turrets, detect enemies through walls, even share their special skills with their teammates, use hacking (for whatever) and more.
While those features are not really revolutionary, the gameplay trailer wants me the check out more, it looks fun, fast-paced and intense.
Stay tuned for more news.
