The launch of free-to-play FPS Sudden Attack 2 is due later this year. Eventually. At least, the first Closed Beta might start this fall, as Nexon Korea is now inviting Korean gamers to apply for the Closed Alpha test.
Sudden Attack 2 is the forthcoming sequel to Sudden Attack, which enjoyed huge popularity in Korea and in some Asian countries. Sudden Attack 1 had been the most played PC game for 106 consecutive weeks in Korea and holds the record with over 26,000 PCU (peak concurrent users), and it is still the most played FPS and ranked no. 3 among all PC games in Korea by now.
The Unreal Engine 3-powered FPS Sudden Attack 2 had been developed for years and its launch was postponed many times, it was even announced back in 2008. GameHi, the developers of Sudden Attack 1 and 2, went through many internal changes and was taken over by Nexon, who initiated to rename the studio to Nexon GT.
Players should expect the same game mechanics and fast-paced FPS gameplay, but some upgraded features, enhanced graphics and well balanced game modes in Sudden Attack's successor.
The Alpha test is set to start on July 24 and ends on July 27. Nexon Korea has set up a teaser site for its Korean users here.
