CCP made a final cut and announced that the f2p MMOFPS DUST 514 will be shutting down on May 30th, 2016. The creators of the EVE Online universe decided to use all resources of their CCP's Shanghai office to work on the all-new FPS, which had tentatively been code-named Project Legion.
DUST 514 had officially moved into Open Beta, free to download and play for anyone with a PlayStation®3 on January 22, 2013. The MMOFPS had acquired a strong, loyal fanbase, which was angered by CCP's announcement of a new f2p FPS, titled Project Legion, to be developed for PC, back in 2014.
Despite the promise to remain committed to continuing support for DUST 514, the developer has made a decision and informed its community that it will shut down the game and use the development resources of CCP Shanghai with the goal of building a great UE4-powered FPS set in the sci-fi universe of New Eden.
The new FPS - which has no title yet - is still in an early phase of production, but CCP promised to reveal a bit more on the upcoming EVE Fanfest on April 21st.
